Municipal solid waste landfills and
construction/demolition landfills represent the most cost
effective, environmentally safe methodology for the ultimate
disposal of solid waste available today. The Company owns, operates
and utilizes exclusively landfills meeting the federal Subtitle-D
and stringent state specific requirements. The Company constantly
monitors the available permitted airspace of each of the landfills
it owns and operates, and on an on-going basis evaluates whether it
is advisable to seek to expand, change the permitted waste streams
or seek other permit modifications. The Company is actively engaged
in identifying solid waste landfill acquisition opportunities to
achieve vertical integration in markets where the economic and
regulatory environment makes such acquisitions attractive. Where
the acquisition of a landfill is not attractive, the Company
pursues long-term disposal contracts with facilities located in
