Truck/Fleet Mechanic - Fostoria, IA

Town and Country Disposal, a Waste Connections, Inc. company, has an immediate opening for an experienced truck/fleet mechanic to perform light mechanical duties on trucks in both Rock Rapids and Fostoria, IA. This position will be based out of Fostoria, IA.

This position will be responsible for:

  1. Performing repairs and maintenance on rear-load, roll-off and other District vehicles to maximize safe and productive operations.
  2. Road testing vehicles to trouble shoot problems and/or test repairs to ensure proper and safe completion.
  3. Reading and interpreting VCR's (vehicle condition reports) and/or repair orders, communicates with supervisor and/or driver for clarification or problems. May discuss preventative techniques with drivers to minimize future repairs.
  4. Making emergency road calls to make repairs on trucks that break down while driving on collection routes.
  5. Other duties as assigned.

Qualified candidates should possess, or be able to:

  • 2-4 years of experience in truck repair, including preventative maintenance, electrical hydraulics and welding experience.
  • A clean Commercial Driver's License and driving record with Air Brake endorsement.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, read, estimate, calculate, interpret, measure and document in writing.
  • Must be willing to travel as needed.
  • Must be willing to work a variety of hours, including evenings.
  • Must be able to sustain a steady work pace over an entire workday.
  • Must be able to tolerate confined spaces for extended periods of time.
