In addition to accepting municipal waste, Anson Landfill is permitted to dispose of the special waste materials listed below.
Special waste is any waste generated from an industrial process or waste contaminated by non-hazardous products. The United States Environmental Protection Agency developed a detailed framework to define hazardous and non-hazardous wastes. Anson Landfill executes a rigorous process to ensure hazardous materials are not disposed of onsite, upholding our commitments to federal and state level regulatory agencies.

1. Review EPA definitions of hazardous waste.
2. Develop waste profile using online link or by contacting Helen Grigg.
3. Review and sign Special Waste Disposal Agreement provided upon profile approval
4. Provide 24-hour notice of asbestos deliveries by emailing Helen or calling 704-773-5317.
6. Provide emailed manifest to scale house attendant and receive instructions.
7. Unload waste at solidification pit or working face as directed by scale house attendant.
Is advanced notice of shipment required?
24-hour advanced notice is required for all (friable and non-friable) asbestos waste shipments and any wastes that require solidification. This notice can be provided by calling 704-773-5317.
Does special waste have any additional delivery requirements?
All loads containing asbestos or sludge must arrive at the Anson Landfill scale house by 2:00pm.
Does my load have to be covered/tarped?
Yes, all loads must be covered, tarped, or secured in a way that prevents waste and debris from becoming airborne in any way. Additional fees will be applied to uncovered or unsecured loads without exception.
Are special waste shipments accepted on weekends?
No, special waste is only accepted Monday through Friday.
What types of special wastes are not accepted at Anson Landfill?
Anson Landfill does not accept radioactive materials or substances, toxic waste substances, or unacceptable quantities of hazardous materials as defined by applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Our Special Waste Sales Representative, Helen, can help answer additional questions.
