City of Boyd Trash Collection

Service Day: Friday, your trash must be by the curb at 7:00 AM

Additional trash carts are available for $7.00 per cart

Recycle drop off located at Public Works: 731 Rock Island Ave. Open from 8a-5p Monday – Friday.

There residents can drop-off recycling which includes paper, cardboard, clean plastic, as well as aluminum and steel cans.

Waste must be at the curb NO LATER THAN 7:00 am.

  • No Loose Trash. Otherwise it will not be collected.
  • Bags cannot exceed 50 pounds.

Extra Trash: Up to two (2) cubic yards of Extra Trash is acceptable each week. Extra trash is waste that would normally fit in cart however there is no room in cart. Normal times to generate Extra Trash would be during holidays. Two 2 Cubic Yards of space.

Special Pickups: Should you have more than the allowable amount to dispose of simply give us a call at 469-607-4466 and we will quote you a price.

Bulk Pickup Guidelines

Bulk Waste

Bulk/Extra Trash: Two (2) bulk/heavy items such as a mattress, couch, or appliance or up to 2 yards of smaller waste such as bags, boxes, or yard waste will be collected each week on your normal collection day. Two yards is approximately the size of two washing machines. Resident owned trash carts count as one bulk item.  Please remember we do not collect any waste generated by a contractor. This includes home building/remodeling and landscaping contractors. Contractors should remove waste they generate.

Bulk Waste is items that will not fit into your cart not normally generated.

  • Furniture (couch, table, mattress (must be bagged), box spring, desk, dresser, etc.)  
  • Refrigerators and AC Units MUST be tagged with a freon evacuation certificate issued by a licensed agent.
  • Appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher, etc.)
  • Hot water heaters and water softeners, must be drained of all water.
  • Fencing/decking/siding (please remove nails, cut into lengths 4' or less, bundled and tied). Bundles must be under 50 pounds. Fences panels should be cut into 4’x4’ panels. No loose lumber at the curb or concrete bases. Please bundle and tie lumber. We do not accept any roofing materials or shingles. Please call 469- 607-4466 for a special pickup quote.
  • Trampolines (broken down, please cut metal into straight 4 foot lengths.
  • Basketball goals (cut into 4 foot sections or shorter, no concrete on base or poles)
  • Carpeting/Flooring (please cut into lengths 4 foot lengths or shorter and tie and bundle under 50 pounds) 6 rolls of carpet is two yards.

Brush and Limbs must be cut into 4 foot sections individually tied and bundled (bundles not to exceed 50 pounds) If yard waste is bagged the bags cannot exceed 50 lbs. Rhino Removal cannot accept dirt, rocks, concrete or tile.

Disposal of Needles, Sharps and Syringes

Disposal of Sharps

Needles, sharps and syringes may be disposed of in your normal trash by taking the following steps:

Secure in Containers

Seal them into a hard plastic or metal container (empty laundry detergent or bleach containers work well). Reinforce the lid with heavy-duty tape.

Label the Container

Label the container as containing needles, sharps or syringes.

Dispose of Container in Normal Trash

Please note that no loose sharps will be collected.

Unacceptable Materials (NEVER PLACE THESE IN TRASH CART)

No Hazardous Material: Rhino Removal cannot accept Hazardous Materials of any kind including Motor Oil, Pesticides, Insecticides, Fertilizer, Gasoline/Kerosene, Medical Waste, Batteries, Paint (liquid), Tires, Pool Chemicals including Chlorine, Cooking Oil, Poison, Radio Active Material or Devices, Explosives, Gun Powder, Bullets, Fireworks, or Hot Coals/Ashes.

Other Unaccepted Items: Dirt, Gravel, Rocks, Tiles, Roofing Shingles, Bricks, Concrete and any material generated by a landscape, construction or remodeling contractor.

Recycle Guidelines

Do Not Bag Recycle

Boyd Recycle Drop-off Center: Conveniently located at Boyd Public Works – 100 Rock Island Ave. Open from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm daily.

Three individual recycle dumpsters designated as Paper & Cardboard, Plastic, and Aluminum & Steel Cans.

Please UN-BAG, separate, and place your recycling into the appropriate recycle container:

  • Container 1: Aluminum and steel cans.
  • Container 2: Paper and Cardboard.
  • Container 3: Clean plastics 1 and 2 (NO STYROFOAM).

Unacceptable Recycle Items: Do not place these into any of the containers.

  • Food Waste
  • Grass, Brush, Wood
  • Appliances
  • Clothes
  • Styrofoam
  • Diapers
  • Plastic bags
  • Inspections
    Our crews must inspect inside the recycle carts to ensure only allowable items are inside. If the recycle cart has trash or other debris, the container CANNOT be serviced.
  • Cardboard
    Cardboard boxes must be broken down, bundled and tied to be collected with recycle. Boxes not broken down will be treated as trash on bulk collection weeks.
